Elder Krystal Berry, a native of Southampton County, Virginia, was nurtured in the faith at Capron (Kay-Prun) Community Church of God in Christ. She pursued higher education by earning a Bachelor of Arts in English from Virginia State University in 2007. After relocating to Houston, Texas, she earned a Master of Arts in English, specializing in 20th- century American poetry and Graveyard Verse, from Texas Southern University in 2009.
